Isaac "Ike" David Early, 97, of Warsack House at VMRC, Harrisonburg passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015.

He was born in Rockingham County on December 24, 1917 and was the son of the late Isaac Claude and Mattie Rhodes Early.

Ike graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1935 and attended Perry Business School in Brunswick, GA. Isaac "Ike" David Early, 97, of Warsack House at VMRC, Harrisonburg passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015.

He was born in Rockingham County on December 24, 1917 and was the son of the late Isaac Claude and Mattie Rhodes Early.

Ike graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1935 and attended Perry Business School in Brunswick, GA. He was employed with the Alspine Lumber Co. in McGaheysville, then The National Bank in Harrisonburg. On December 14, 1941 he joined the Navy for 45 months. In September 1945 he joined Rockingham Poultry in Staunton as office manager. In 1948, he joined two brothers and founded Early Equipment Company in Harrisonburg and retired in 1986. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Virginia Farm Equipment Association in Richmond, VA and was on the board of Directors of Park View Federal Credit Union in Harrisonburg.

Ike was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as treasurer for 36 years. He was a member of B. F. Wilson Bible Class and sang in the church choir.

On Easter Sunday, April 25, 1943 he married the former Martha Nethken, who preceded him in death on October 23, 2010.

He is survived by two loving daughters, Susan Patterson and husband, Eddie, of Richmond, and Nancy Gray and husband, Danny, of Singers Glen; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

The family will receive friends 7-9:00 pm, this evening (Monday) March 30, 2015 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Skip Hastings officiating. Burial will be private.
